Chapter 2 • Verse 45

त्रैगुण्यविषया वेदा निस्त्रैगुण्यो भवार्जुन। निर्द्वन्द्वो नित्यसत्त्वस्थो निर्योगक्षेम आत्मवान्॥

trai-guṇya-viṣhayā vedā nistrai-guṇyo bhavārjuna nirdvandvo nitya-sattva-stho niryoga-kṣhema ātmavān

Meaning

The Vedas deal with the three modes of material nature. Rise above these three modes, O Arjuna. Be free from dualities, ever established in purity, free from acquisition and preservation, and situated in the self.

Transcend the material modes: inertia, passion, and even normal goodness. Be free from pairs of opposites. Need nothing, protect nothing. Just be the self.

Strength Reflection

"I rise above material attachments, established in my true self, needing and fearing nothing."

Devotional Surrender

O Arjuna's Lord, establish me beyond the three gunas, in eternal purity and self-knowledge.
