Chapter 2 • Verse 44
भोगैश्वर्यप्रसक्तानां तयापहृतचेतसाम्। व्यवसायात्मिका बुद्धिः समाधौ न विधीयते॥
bhogaiśhwarya-prasaktānāṁ tayāpahṛita-chetasām vyavasāyātmikā buddhiḥ samādhau na vidhīyate
Meaning
Those deeply attached to pleasure and power, whose minds are carried away by such teachings, cannot attain the resolute determination needed for meditation.
Attachment to pleasure and power scatters the mind. With a scattered mind, deep concentration becomes impossible. Simplify desires to clarify the mind.
