Chapter 1 • Verse 28
कृपया परयाविष्टो विषीदन्निदमब्रवीत्। अर्जुन उवाच। दृष्ट्वेमं स्वजनं कृष्ण युयुत्सुं समुपस्थितम्॥
kṛipayā parayāviṣhṭo viṣhīdann idam abravīt arjuna uvācha dṛiṣhṭvemaṁ sva-janaṁ kṛiṣhṇa yuyutsuṁ samupasthitam
Meaning
Arjuna, filled with deep compassion, spoke in grief: O Krishna, seeing my own kinsmen arrayed and eager to fight.
Arjuna's compassion overwhelms him — his heart breaks at the thought of harming loved ones. Compassion is beautiful, but when it paralyzes action against adharma, it becomes a weakness disguised as virtue.
Strength Reflection
"I balance my compassion with the courage to act against wrongdoing, even when it's difficult."
Devotional Surrender
Lord, purify my compassion so it doesn't blind me to my duty or paralyze righteous action.
