यदा हि नेन्द्रियार्थेषु न कर्मस्वनुषज्जते। सर्वसङ्कल्पसन्न्यासी योगारूढस्तदोच्यते॥
yadā hi nendriyārtheṣhu na karmasv anuṣhajjate sarva-saṅkalpa-sannyāsī yogārūḍhas tadochyate
Meaning
When one is attached neither to sense objects nor to actions, and has renounced all personal desires, one is said to have attained yoga.
This describes the state of a realized yogi — free from compulsive attraction to pleasures and free from anxious clinging to activities. Notice this is about attachment, not avoidance. The yogi can engage with life without being enslaved by it. This freedom is the fruit of sustained practice.
Strength Reflection
"I cultivate freedom from compulsive attractions while remaining fully engaged in life."
Devotional Surrender
Lord, loosen the chains of attachment that bind me to fleeting pleasures and anxious activity.
