Chapter 6 • Verse 3

आरुरुक्षोर्मुनेर्योगं कर्म कारणमुच्यते। योगारूढस्य तस्यैव शमः कारणमुच्यते॥

ārurukṣhor muner yogaṁ karma kāraṇam uchyate yogārūḍhasya tasyaiva śhamaḥ kāraṇam uchyate

Meaning

For one who wishes to attain yoga, action is said to be the means. For one who has attained yoga, tranquility becomes the means.

This verse maps the spiritual journey. Beginners need active practice and discipline to prepare the mind. Once the mind is trained, stillness becomes natural and deepens realization. Both stages are necessary — don't try to skip ahead. Action purifies; stillness reveals.

Strength Reflection

"I honor where I am on my journey, using the appropriate tools for my current stage."

Devotional Surrender

O Krishna, guide me to know whether action or stillness serves my growth right now.
