Chapter 6 • Verse 2

यं सन्न्यासमिति प्राहुर्योगं तं विद्धि पाण्डव। न ह्यसन्न्यस्तसङ्कल्पो योगी भवति कश्चन॥

yaṁ sannyāsam iti prāhur yogaṁ taṁ viddhi pāṇḍava na hy asannyasta-saṅkalpo yogī bhavati kaśhchana

Meaning

O Arjuna, know that what is called renunciation is the same as yoga. No one can become a yogi without giving up selfish desires and intentions.

True yoga requires renouncing selfish motives, not just physical possessions. You cannot meditate deeply while clinging to personal agendas. The letting go of self-centered schemes is the foundation of spiritual practice. This inner renunciation is more challenging and more transformative than any external sacrifice.

Strength Reflection

"I release selfish motives that block my spiritual progress and inner peace."

Devotional Surrender

Lord, purify my intentions. Help me let go of hidden agendas that keep me bound.
