Chapter 6 • Verse 18

यदा विनियतं चित्तमात्मन्येवावतिष्ठते। निःस्पृहः सर्वकामेभ्यो युक्त इत्युच्यते तदा॥

yadā viniyataṁ chittam ātmany evāvatiṣhṭhate niḥspṛihaḥ sarva-kāmebhyo yukta ity uchyate tadā

Meaning

When the disciplined mind rests in the Self alone, free from longing for all desires — then one is said to be united in yoga.

This describes the state of achieved yoga. The mind, thoroughly trained, naturally rests in its source. Desires may arise but no longer create compulsive longing. This isn't suppression but transcendence — having gone beyond the tyranny of wants. Such a person is truly 'yoked' to their highest Self.

Strength Reflection

"I train my mind to rest in its deepest nature, free from enslaving desires."

Devotional Surrender

Lord, let my mind find its home in You, freed from the restless search for satisfaction.
