Chapter 6 • Verse 17

युक्ताहारविहारस्य युक्तचेष्टस्य कर्मसु। युक्तस्वप्नावबोधस्य योगो भवति दुःखहा॥

yuktāhāra-vihārasya yukta-cheṣhṭasya karmasu yukta-svapnāvabodhasya yogo bhavati duḥkha-hā

Meaning

For one who is moderate in eating and recreation, balanced in work, and regulated in sleep and waking — yoga becomes the destroyer of sorrow.

This famous verse prescribes moderation in all aspects of life. Balanced eating, appropriate recreation, measured work, and proper rest — when life is harmonized, yoga naturally flourishes and destroys suffering. This isn't about rigid rules but wise self-regulation. Balance is the key to making spiritual practice sustainable.

Strength Reflection

"I bring balance to all areas of my life, knowing moderation supports lasting peace."

Devotional Surrender

O Krishna, help me live a balanced life so that Your yoga may flourish within me.
