Chapter 2 • Verse 9

सञ्जय उवाच। एवमुक्त्वा हृषीकेशं गुडाकेशः परन्तपः। न योत्स्य इति गोविन्दमुक्त्वा तूष्णीं बभूव ह॥

sañjaya uvācha evam uktvā hṛiṣhīkeśhaṁ guḍākeśhaḥ parantapaḥ na yotsya iti govindam uktvā tūṣhṇīṁ babhūva ha

Meaning

Sanjaya said: Having spoken thus to Krishna, Arjuna, the conqueror of sleep and scorcher of enemies, said 'I will not fight' and became silent.

Arjuna declares 'I will not fight' and falls silent. His declaration seems final, but his silence creates space for Krishna's teaching. Sometimes we must exhaust our arguments before we can truly listen.

Strength Reflection

"I recognize when I've exhausted my own understanding and need to become silent and receptive."

Devotional Surrender

O Govinda, I have said all I can say. Now I am silent. Speak to me.
