Chapter 2 • Verse 70
आपूर्यमाणमचलप्रतिष्ठं समुद्रमापः प्रविशन्ति यद्वत्। तद्वत्कामा यं प्रविशन्ति सर्वे स शान्तिमाप्नोति न कामकामी॥
āpūryamāṇam achala-pratiṣhṭhaṁ samudram āpaḥ praviśhanti yadvat tadvat kāmā yaṁ praviśhanti sarve sa śhāntim āpnoti na kāma-kāmī
Meaning
Just as waters enter the ocean, which is full and still, so too desires enter the sage who remains unmoved. Such a person attains peace, not one who craves desires.
The ocean receives all rivers but remains full and still. Similarly, the sage experiences desires without being disturbed. Desires come; the sage remains stable. This is true peace.
Strength Reflection
"Like the ocean, I remain full and stable even as desires flow through me."
Devotional Surrender
O Lord, make me like the ocean - full of You, unmoved by the rivers of desire.
