Chapter 2 • Verse 62
ध्यायतो विषयान्पुंसः सङ्गस्तेषूपजायते। सङ्गात्सञ्जायते कामः कामात्क्रोधोऽभिजायते॥
dhyāyato viṣhayān puṁsaḥ saṅgas teṣhūpajāyate saṅgāt sañjāyate kāmaḥ kāmāt krodho 'bhijāyate
Meaning
When a person dwells on sense objects, attachment develops. From attachment arises desire, and from unfulfilled desire comes anger.
Here is the chain reaction: thinking leads to attachment, attachment to desire, unfulfilled desire to anger. Guard your thoughts - they are the first link in the chain of bondage.
Strength Reflection
"I guard the gates of my mind, knowing that my attention shapes my reality."
Devotional Surrender
O Lord, anchor my mind in thoughts of You. Break the chain of bondage.
