Chapter 2 • Verse 49

दूरेण ह्यवरं कर्म बुद्धियोगाद्धनञ्जय। बुद्धौ शरणमन्विच्छ कृपणाः फलहेतवः॥

dūreṇa hy avaraṁ karma buddhi-yogād dhanañjaya buddhau śharaṇam anvichchha kṛipaṇāḥ phala-hetavaḥ

Meaning

Action done with selfish motives is far inferior to action done with wisdom. Take refuge in this wisdom. Those motivated by results are miserable.

Selfish action leads to bondage; wise action leads to freedom. Those obsessed with results live in constant anxiety. Find refuge in wisdom, acting from understanding.

Strength Reflection

"I take refuge in wisdom, letting go of anxious attachment to specific outcomes."

Devotional Surrender

O Dhananjaya's Lord, let me take shelter in wisdom, free from the misery of result-obsession.
