Chapter 2 • Verse 38

सुखदुःखे समे कृत्वा लाभालाभौ जयाजयौ। ततो युद्धाय युज्यस्व नैवं पापमवाप्स्यसि॥

sukha-duḥkhe same kṛitvā lābhālābhau jayājayau tato yuddhāya yujyasva naivaṁ pāpam avāpsyasi

Meaning

Treating pleasure and pain, gain and loss, victory and defeat alike, engage in battle. Thus you will not incur sin.

Equanimity is the key - be equal in pleasure and pain, gain and loss, victory and defeat. With this mindset, action becomes free from karmic bondage. This is the secret of karma yoga.

Strength Reflection

"I engage in action with equanimity, not attached to outcomes, free from the bondage of results."

Devotional Surrender

Lord, grant me equal vision in success and failure. Let me act as Your instrument, free from attachment.
