Chapter 2 • Verse 11

श्रीभगवानुवाच। अशोच्यानन्वशोचस्त्वं प्रज्ञावादांश्च भाषसे। गतासूनगतासूंश्च नानुशोचन्ति पण्डिताः॥

śhrī bhagavān uvācha aśhochyān anvaśhochas tvaṁ prajñā-vādānśh cha bhāṣhase gatāsūn agatāsūnśh cha nānuśhochanti paṇḍitāḥ

Meaning

The Supreme Lord said: You grieve for those who should not be grieved for, yet you speak words of wisdom. The wise grieve neither for the living nor for the dead.

Krishna points out Arjuna's contradiction - speaking wisely while acting foolishly. True wisdom is demonstrated through action, not just words. The wise understand the eternal nature of the soul and do not mourn.

Strength Reflection

"I align my actions with my understanding, closing the gap between what I know and what I do."

Devotional Surrender

O Lord, transform my intellectual understanding into lived wisdom. Let my actions match my words.
