Chapter 6 • Verse 9

सुहृन्मित्रार्युदासीनमध्यस्थद्वेष्यबन्धुषु। साधुष्वपि च पापेषु समबुद्धिर्विशिष्यते॥

suhṛin-mitrāry-udāsīna-madhyastha-dveṣhya-bandhuṣhu sādhuṣhv api cha pāpeṣhu sama-buddhir viśhiṣhyate

Meaning

One who has equal regard for friends, companions, enemies, neutrals, mediators, the hateful, relatives, saints, and sinners — such a person excels.

This is the ultimate test of spiritual maturity — seeing the divine in everyone regardless of their relationship to you or their behavior. This doesn't mean approving harmful actions but recognizing the same consciousness in all beings. Such vision frees you from the exhausting drama of preferential relationships.

Strength Reflection

"I practice seeing the same sacred presence in all beings, regardless of how they treat me."

Devotional Surrender

O Krishna, expand my vision until I see Your presence equally in friend and foe.
