Chapter 6 • Verse 8

ज्ञानविज्ञानतृप्तात्मा कूटस्थो विजितेन्द्रियः। युक्त इत्युच्यते योगी समलोष्टाश्मकाञ्चनः॥

jñāna-vijñāna-tṛiptātmā kūṭa-stho vijitendriyaḥ yukta ity uchyate yogī sama-loṣhṭāśhma-kāñchanaḥ

Meaning

One who is satisfied through knowledge and realization, who is unshaken, who has conquered the senses, and who sees a lump of earth, a stone, and gold as equal — such a person is called a yogi.

The true yogi has both theoretical knowledge and direct experience of truth. This brings a satisfaction that doesn't depend on external possessions. Seeing earth and gold as equal doesn't mean being impractical — it means being free from the distorting power of greed. Such equanimity comes from inner fullness.

Strength Reflection

"I seek the satisfaction of wisdom that makes me free from greed's distortions."

Devotional Surrender

Lord, fill me with such inner wealth that outer possessions lose their power over me.
