Chapter 6 • Verse 34

चञ्चलं हि मनः कृष्ण प्रमाथि बलवद्दृढम्। तस्याहं निग्रहं मन्ये वायोरिव सुदुष्करम्॥

chañchalaṁ hi manaḥ kṛiṣhṇa pramāthi balavad dṛiḍham tasyāhaṁ nigrahaṁ manye vāyor iva su-duṣhkaram

Meaning

For the mind is restless, turbulent, powerful, and obstinate, O Krishna. Controlling it seems as difficult as controlling the wind.

Arjuna's description of the mind resonates deeply: restless, turbulent, strong, and stubborn. Who hasn't experienced the mind as a wild force that resists taming? His comparison to wind is perfect — both are invisible, powerful, and seemingly impossible to grasp. This sincere expression of difficulty invites compassionate guidance.

Strength Reflection

"I acknowledge my mind's wildness without despair, knowing even the wind can be worked with."

Devotional Surrender

O Krishna, my mind is wild like the wind. Only Your grace can bring it to stillness.
