Chapter 6 • Verse 11

शुचौ देशे प्रतिष्ठाप्य स्थिरमासनमात्मनः। नात्युच्छ्रितं नातिनीचं चैलाजिनकुशोत्तरम्॥

śhuchau deśhe pratiṣhṭhāpya sthiram āsanam ātmanaḥ nāty-uchchhritaṁ nāti-nīchaṁ chailājina-kuśhottaram

Meaning

In a clean place, one should establish a firm seat for oneself — neither too high nor too low — with cloth, deerskin, and kusha grass arranged properly.

The physical setup for meditation matters. A clean, dedicated space signals to your mind that something sacred is happening. The seat should be comfortable and stable — not so high you feel unstable, not so low you become drowsy. These practical details support the inner work.

Strength Reflection

"I create a clean, stable space for my practice, honoring the sacredness of meditation."

Devotional Surrender

O Lord, wherever I sit to remember You becomes a sacred altar.
