Chapter 3 • Verse 34

इन्द्रियस्येन्द्रियस्यार्थे रागद्वेषौ व्यवस्थितौ। तयोर्न वशमागच्छेत्तौ ह्यस्य परिपन्थिनौ॥

indriyasyendriyasyārthe rāga-dveṣhau vyavasthitau tayor na vaśham āgachchhet tau hy asya paripanthinau

Meaning

Attachment and aversion toward sense objects are seated in the senses. One should not come under their sway, for they are obstacles on the path.

Attraction and aversion are natural to the senses, but don't let them control you. They are roadblocks on the spiritual path. Recognize them without obeying them.

Strength Reflection

"I observe my attractions and aversions without being controlled by them."

Devotional Surrender

Lord, free me from the tyranny of likes and dislikes that block my path to You.
