Chapter 3 • Verse 25
सक्ताः कर्मण्यविद्वांसो यथा कुर्वन्ति भारत। कुर्याद्विद्वांस्तथासक्तश्चिकीर्षुर्लोकसङ्ग्रहम्॥
saktāḥ karmaṇy avidvānso yathā kurvanti bhārata kuryād vidvāns tathāsaktas chikīrṣhur loka-saṅgraham
Meaning
As the ignorant act with attachment, O Bharata, so should the wise act without attachment, for the welfare of the world.
Both wise and ignorant engage in action. The difference is attachment. The wise work equally hard but for the world's benefit, not personal gain.
Strength Reflection
"I match the intensity of action of worldly people but direct it toward higher purposes."
Devotional Surrender
Lord, let me work as hard as anyone but for purposes that serve all.
