Chapter 2 • Verse 67
इन्द्रियाणां हि चरतां यन्मनोऽनुविधीयते। तदस्य हरति प्रज्ञां वायुर्नावमिवाम्भसि॥
indriyāṇāṁ hi charatāṁ yan mano 'nuvidhīyate tad asya harati prajñāṁ vāyur nāvam ivāmbhasi
Meaning
When the mind runs after the wandering senses, it carries away wisdom like wind carries away a ship on water.
A mind following the senses is like a ship without anchor - blown wherever the wind takes it. Control comes from anchoring the mind, not just restraining the senses.
Strength Reflection
"I anchor my mind firmly so it is not carried away by sensory impulses."
Devotional Surrender
O Lord, be the anchor of my mind in the stormy sea of sense impressions.
