Chapter 2 • Verse 42
यामिमां पुष्पितां वाचं प्रवदन्त्यविपश्चितः। वेदवादरताः पार्थ नान्यदस्तीति वादिनः॥
yām imāṁ puṣhpitāṁ vāchaṁ pravadanty avipaśhchitaḥ veda-vāda-ratāḥ pārtha nānyad astīti vādinaḥ
Meaning
The unwise, attached to flowery words of the Vedas, declare that there is nothing else, O Partha.
Krishna warns against those who miss the deeper meaning of scriptures, attached only to rituals and rewards. Wisdom lies in the spirit, not just the letter of sacred texts.
