Chapter 1 • Verse 38
यद्यप्येते न पश्यन्ति लोभोपहतचेतसः। कुलक्षयकृतं दोषं मित्रद्रोहे च पातकम्॥
yady apy ete na paśhyanti lobhopahata-chetasaḥ kula-kṣhaya-kṛitaṁ doṣhaṁ mitra-drohe cha pātakam
Meaning
Even if these men, their minds overcome by greed, do not see the sin in destroying their own family and the crime in treachery to friends.
Arjuna claims moral superiority — others are blind to sin while he sees clearly. Yet in his confusion, he too is blind to his duty. Judging others often reveals our own blind spots.
Strength Reflection
"Before judging others' blindness, I examine my own areas of confusion and denial."
Devotional Surrender
Lord, remove the beam from my own eye before I focus on the speck in my brother's.
