भूमिरापोऽनलो वायुः खं मनो बुद्धिरेव च। अहङ्कार इतीयं मे भिन्ना प्रकृतिरष्टधा॥
bhūmir āpo 'nalo vāyuḥ khaṁ mano buddhir eva cha ahankāra itīyaṁ me bhinnā prakṛitir aṣhṭadhā
Meaning
Earth, water, fire, air, space, mind, intellect, and ego — these eight constitute My separated material nature (lower prakriti).
Krishna reveals that the entire material world, including the mind and ego, is Divine energy in a differentiated form. The five elements plus mind, intellect, and ego make eight aspects of lower nature. Even your thinking mind is part of material nature — not your true Self. This knowledge frees you from over-identifying with thoughts.
