Chapter 3 • Verse 41
तस्मात्त्वमिन्द्रियाण्यादौ नियम्य भरतर्षभ। पाप्मानं प्रजहि ह्येनं ज्ञानविज्ञाननाशनम्॥
tasmāt tvam indriyāṇy ādau niyamya bharatarṣhabha pāpmānaṁ prajahi hy enaṁ jñāna-vijñāna-nāśhanam
Meaning
Therefore, O best of the Bharatas, first controlling the senses, slay this sinful destroyer of knowledge and self-realization.
The practical instruction: first control the senses, then destroy desire. Start at the outer gate. If you can't control what enters through the senses, the inner battle is already lost.
