Chapter 2 • Verse 33
अथ चेत्त्वमिमं धर्म्यं सङ्ग्रामं न करिष्यसि। ततः स्वधर्मं कीर्तिं च हित्वा पापमवाप्स्यसि॥
atha chet tvam imaṁ dharmyaṁ saṅgrāmaṁ na kariṣhyasi tataḥ sva-dharmaṁ kīrtiṁ cha hitvā pāpam avāpsyasi
Meaning
But if you do not fight this righteous war, you will abandon your duty and your honor, and incur sin.
Avoiding duty is not neutral - it is a sin. Running from righteous responsibility damages both character and reputation. Action has consequences, but so does inaction.
