Chapter 18 • Verse 59
यदहंकारमाश्रित्य न योत्स्य इति मन्यसे। मिथ्यैष व्यवसायस्ते प्रकृतिस्त्वां नियोक्ष्यति॥
yad ahaṅkāram āśhritya na yotsya iti manyase mithyaiṣha vyavasāyas te prakṛitis tvāṁ niyokṣhyati
Meaning
If, taking refuge in ego, you think 'I will not fight,' your resolve is vain. Your nature will compel you.
If Arjuna's ego decides not to fight, that resolve is futile. His warrior nature will compel him. We cannot escape our inherent nature; better to act consciously than be driven unconsciously.

"I cannot escape my nature. Better to act consciously with spiritual awareness."
Devotional Surrender
O Lord, help me act consciously according to my nature, not from ego-resistance.
