Chapter 13 • Verse 33

यथा सर्वगतं सौक्ष्म्यादाकाशं नोपलिप्यते। सर्वत्रावस्थितो देहे तथात्मा नोपलिप्यते॥

yathā sarva-gataṁ saukṣhmyād ākāśhaṁ nopalipyate sarvatrāvasthito dehe tathātmā nopalipyate

Meaning

As the all-pervading space is not tainted due to its subtlety, so the Self, though present everywhere in the body, is not tainted.

Space pervades everything yet nothing sticks to it — because it is subtle. Similarly, the soul pervades the body without being tainted by its activities, emotions, or conditions. The soul's subtlety keeps it ever pure.

Strength Reflection

"Like space, my soul pervades but is never tainted by what it pervades."

Devotional Surrender

O Lord, let me realize my soul's purity like space — present everywhere, touching nothing.
