Chapter 13 • Verse 23
उपद्रष्टानुमन्ता च भर्ता भोक्ता महेश्वरः। परमात्मेति चाप्युक्तो देहेऽस्मिन्पुरुषः परः॥
upadraṣhṭānumantā cha bhartā bhoktā maheśhvaraḥ paramātmeti chāpy ukto dehe 'smin puruṣhaḥ paraḥ
Meaning
The Supreme Soul in this body is also called the witness, the permitter, the supporter, the experiencer, the Great Lord, and the Supreme Self.
Within the body dwells the Supreme Soul with many functions: witness (observing all), permitter (allowing actions), supporter (sustaining existence), experiencer (conscious presence), Great Lord (supreme controller), and Supreme Self (beyond individual ego).
