भूतग्रामः स एवायं भूत्वा भूत्वा प्रलीयते। रात्र्यागमेऽवशः पार्थ प्रभवत्यहरागमे॥
bhūta-grāmaḥ sa evāyaṁ bhūtvā bhūtvā pralīyate rātry-āgame 'vaśhaḥ pārtha prabhavaty ahar-āgame
Meaning
This multitude of beings, having come into existence again and again, is helplessly dissolved at the coming of night, and manifests again at the coming of day.
Beings are helplessly caught in cosmic cycles, repeatedly manifesting and dissolving without control. This 'helplessness' applies to those identified with the cycle. But knowing yourself as the eternal witness frees you from this helpless repetition. Awareness breaks the cycle.
