चतुर्विधा भजन्ते मां जनाः सुकृतिनोऽर्जुन। आर्तो जिज्ञासुरर्थार्थी ज्ञानी च भरतर्षभ॥
chatur-vidhā bhajante māṁ janāḥ sukṛitino 'rjuna ārto jijñāsur arthārthī jñānī cha bharatarṣhabha
Meaning
Four kinds of virtuous people worship Me, O Arjuna: the distressed, the seeker of knowledge, the seeker of wealth, and the wise.
Krishna acknowledges various motivations for spiritual seeking. Some come from suffering (arta), some from curiosity (jijnasu), some seeking worldly gains (artharthi), and some from wisdom (jnani). All are valid starting points. Don't judge where you began — what matters is that you're on the path. The journey refines motivation.
Strength Reflection
"I accept my current motivation for seeking without judgment, trusting the path will refine it."
Devotional Surrender
Lord, whatever brought me to You, thank You. Deepen my devotion beyond need into pure love.
