Chapter 7 • Verse 14

दैवी ह्येषा गुणमयी मम माया दुरत्यया। मामेव ये प्रपद्यन्ते मायामेतां तरन्ति ते॥

daivī hy eṣhā guṇa-mayī mama māyā duratyayā mām eva ye prapadyante māyām etāṁ taranti te

Meaning

This divine illusion (maya) of Mine, consisting of the three gunas, is very difficult to overcome. But those who surrender to Me alone cross beyond it.

Maya — the cosmic illusion created by the three qualities — is almost impossible to transcend through personal effort alone. But Krishna gives the solution: surrender to the Divine. This isn't defeat but wisdom — recognizing that grace accomplishes what ego cannot. The way through maya is devotion, not just effort.

Strength Reflection

"I acknowledge that surrender is wisdom, not weakness. Some obstacles require grace, not just effort."

Devotional Surrender

Lord, I cannot overcome maya alone. I surrender to You. Carry me across this ocean of illusion.
