Chapter 18 • Verse 40
न तदस्ति पृथिव्यां वा दिवि देवेषु वा पुनः। सत्त्वं प्रकृतिजैर्मुक्तं यदेभिः स्यात्त्रिभिर्गुणैः॥
na tad asti pṛithivyāṁ vā divi deveṣhu vā punaḥ sattvaṁ prakṛiti-jair muktaṁ yadebhiḥ syāt tribhir guṇaiḥ
Meaning
There is no being on earth, or among the gods in heaven, that is free from these three gunas born of Prakriti.
Everything in material existence — on earth or in heaven — is subject to the three gunas. Even celestial beings are bound by them. Only transcending material nature brings freedom.

"I understand that transcending the gunas is the path to true freedom."
Devotional Surrender
O Lord, help me transcend all three gunas to attain freedom.
