Chapter 18 • Verse 30
प्रवृत्तिं च निवृत्तिं च कार्याकार्ये भयाभये। बन्धं मोक्षं च या वेत्ति बुद्धिः सा पार्थ सात्त्विकी॥
pravṛittiṁ cha nivṛittiṁ cha kāryākārye bhayābhaye bandhaṁ mokṣhaṁ cha yā vetti buddhiḥ sā pārtha sāttvikī
Meaning
That intellect which knows action and inaction, what ought to be done and what ought not to be done, fear and fearlessness, bondage and liberation — that intellect, O Partha, is sattvic.
Sattvic intellect correctly discerns: when to act and when not to, right from wrong action, proper fear from baseless fear, what binds and what liberates. This is discriminating wisdom.
Strength Reflection
"I cultivate intellect that discerns right action, proper fear, and liberation."
Devotional Surrender
O Lord, grant me sattvic intellect that knows what leads to freedom.
