Chapter 18 • Verse 29

बुद्धेर्भेदं धृतेश्चैव गुणतस्त्रिविधं शृणु। प्रोच्यमानमशेषेण पृथक्त्वेन धनञ्जय॥

buddher bhedaṁ dhṛiteśh chaiva guṇatas tri-vidhaṁ śhṛiṇu prochyamānam aśheṣheṇa pṛithaktvena dhanañjaya

Meaning

Hear now the threefold division of intellect (buddhi) and of steadiness (dhriti) according to the gunas, declared completely and separately, O Dhananjaya.

Krishna will now explain three types of intellect (discriminating understanding) and steadiness (determination) based on the gunas. This helps refine our inner faculties.

Strength Reflection

"I examine the quality of my intellect and determination."

Devotional Surrender

O Lord, teach me about sattvic intellect and steadiness.
