Chapter 18 • Verse 12
अनिष्टमिष्टं मिश्रं च त्रिविधं कर्मणः फलम्। भवत्यत्यागिनां प्रेत्य न तु संन्यासिनां क्वचित्॥
aniṣhṭam iṣhṭaṁ miśhraṁ cha tri-vidhaṁ karmaṇaḥ phalam bhavaty atyāgināṁ pretya na tu sannyāsināṁ kvachit
Meaning
The threefold fruit of action — undesirable, desirable, and mixed — accrues after death to those who do not renounce, but never to the renouncers.
Actions bear fruit: bad, good, or mixed. Those attached to results experience these fruits after death. True renouncers, free from attachment, accumulate no karmic results. Detachment frees from karmic bondage.
Strength Reflection
"By releasing attachment to results, I free myself from karmic accumulation."
Devotional Surrender
O Lord, let me be a true renouncer, free from karmic consequences.
