Chapter 18 • Verse 1
अर्जुन उवाच। संन्यासस्य महाबाहो तत्त्वमिच्छामि वेदितुम्। त्यागस्य च हृषीकेश पृथक्केशिनिषूदन॥
arjuna uvācha sannyāsasya mahā-bāho tattvam ichchhāmi veditum tyāgasya cha hṛiṣhīkeśha pṛithak keśhi-niṣhūdana
Meaning
Arjuna said: O mighty-armed one, O Hrishikesha, O slayer of Keshi, I wish to know the truth of renunciation (sannyasa) and relinquishment (tyaga) separately.
In this final chapter, Arjuna asks about the distinction between sannyasa (renunciation of actions) and tyaga (relinquishment of fruits). This inquiry will lead to the Gita's ultimate teaching on liberation.
Strength Reflection
"I seek to understand the true meaning of renunciation and letting go."
Devotional Surrender
O Lord, teach me the final truth about renunciation that leads to freedom.
