Chapter 16 • Verse 8
असत्यमप्रतिष्ठं ते जगदाहुरनीश्वरम्। अपरस्परसंभूतं किमन्यत्कामहैतुकम्॥
asatyam apratiṣhṭhaṁ te jagad āhur anīśhvaram aparaspara-sambhūtaṁ kim anyat kāma-haitukam
Meaning
They say the world is unreal, without foundation, without a God, brought about by mutual union alone, caused by lust — what else?
The demoniac worldview: the universe is unreal and meaningless, there is no God, everything arose randomly through material processes, desire (lust) is life's driving force. This philosophy leads to selfish, nihilistic behavior.
