Chapter 15 • Verse 8

शरीरं यदवाप्नोति यच्चाप्युत्क्रामतीश्वरः। गृहीत्वैतानि संयाति वायुर्गन्धानिवाशयात्॥

śharīraṁ yad avāpnoti yach chāpy utkrāmatīśhvaraḥ gṛihītvaitāni saṁyāti vāyur gandhān ivāśhayāt

Meaning

When the Lord (soul) acquires a body and when He leaves it, He takes these (mind and senses) and goes, as the wind carries scents from their source.

When the soul enters a new body or leaves an old one, it carries the mind and sense impressions with it — like wind carrying fragrance from flowers. Death is just the soul moving with its subtle body to another form.

Strength Reflection

"At death, I carry my mental impressions to the next body, like wind carries scent."

Devotional Surrender

O Lord, purify my subtle body so I carry only Your fragrance into my next life.
