अधश्चोर्ध्वं प्रसृतास्तस्य शाखा गुणप्रवृद्धा विषयप्रवालाः। अधश्च मूलान्यनुसन्ततानि कर्मानुबन्धीनि मनुष्यलोके॥
adhaśh chordhvaṁ prasṛitās tasya śhākhā guṇa-pravṛiddhā viṣhaya-pravālāḥ adhaśh cha mūlāny anusantatāni karmānubandhīni manuṣhya-loke
Meaning
Its branches extend below and above, nourished by the gunas, with sense objects as buds. Its roots stretch below, bound to actions in the human world.
The tree's branches (life-forms) spread through all worlds, nourished by the three gunas. Sense objects are its tender shoots that attract us. Secondary roots (desires based on past karma) bind beings in the human world.
