Chapter 14 • Verse 23
उदासीनवदासीनो गुणैर्यो न विचाल्यते। गुणा वर्तन्त इत्येवं योऽवतिष्ठति नेङ्गते॥
udāsīna-vad āsīno guṇair yo na vichālyate guṇā vartanta ity evaṁ yo 'vatiṣhṭhati neṅgate
Meaning
...seated as if unconcerned, undisturbed by the gunas, knowing that the gunas alone are acting — he remains steady and does not waver.
The transcended one sits like an unconcerned witness — not cold or uncaring, but unmoved by internal guna-fluctuations. Knowing that only the gunas act (not the self), they remain steady, unwavering, established in being.
