Chapter 8 • Verse 13
ओमित्येकाक्षरं ब्रह्म व्याहरन्मामनुस्मरन्। यः प्रयाति त्यजन्देहं स याति परमां गतिम्॥
om ity ekākṣharaṁ brahma vyāharan mām anusmaran yaḥ prayāti tyajan dehaṁ sa yāti paramāṁ gatim
Meaning
Uttering the single syllable Om — Brahman — and remembering Me, whoever departs leaving the body, attains the supreme goal.
Om is the sound-essence of Brahman, containing all teachings in one syllable. Chanting Om while remembering Krishna at departure ensures liberation. Om is the bridge between the finite and infinite. This practice should begin now, not be left for the last moment.
