Chapter 6 • Verse 44

पूर्वाभ्यासेन तेनैव ह्रियते ह्यवशोऽपि सः। जिज्ञासुरपि योगस्य शब्दब्रह्मातिवर्तते॥

pūrvābhyāsena tenaiva hriyate hy avaśho 'pi saḥ jijñāsur api yogasya śhabda-brahmātivartate

Meaning

By virtue of previous practice, one is irresistibly drawn toward yoga. Even the mere inquirer about yoga transcends the ritualistic principles of the scriptures.

Past spiritual practice creates a pull that brings the soul back to the path — even involuntarily. This explains the inexplicable attraction some feel toward spiritual life. And note: even being curious about yoga is superior to mere ritualistic observance. The desire for truth, wherever it comes from, is itself a spiritual achievement.

Strength Reflection

"I honor my attraction to the spiritual path as the fruit of past practice and present grace."

Devotional Surrender

O Krishna, the pull I feel toward You is Your grace. Let me follow it completely.
