Chapter 18 • Verse 44
कृषिगौरक्ष्यवाणिज्यं वैश्यकर्म स्वभावजम्। परिचर्यात्मकं कर्म शूद्रस्यापि स्वभावजम्॥
kṛiṣhi-gau-rakṣhya-vāṇijyaṁ vaiśhya-karma svabhāva-jam paricharyātmakaṁ karma śhūdrasyāpi svabhāva-jam
Meaning
Agriculture, cattle-rearing, and trade are the duties of Vaishyas, born of their nature. Service is the duty of Shudras, born of their nature.
Those with Vaishya nature excel in commerce, agriculture, and animal husbandry. Those with Shudra nature serve through devoted labor. Each contributes according to their natural abilities.
