Chapter 18 • Verse 19

ज्ञानं कर्म च कर्ता च त्रिधैव गुणभेदतः। प्रोच्यते गुणसंख्याने यथावच्छृणु तान्यपि॥

jñānaṁ karma cha kartā cha tridhaiva guṇa-bhedataḥ prochyate guṇa-saṅkhyāne yathāvach chhrṇu tāny api

Meaning

Knowledge, action, and the doer are said to be of three kinds according to the distinction of gunas in the Sankhya teaching. Hear properly about these also.

Knowledge, action, and doer each come in three types based on the gunas. Understanding these helps identify our current state and aspire toward the sattvic. Krishna will now detail each.

Strength Reflection

"I examine my knowledge, action, and sense of doership through the three gunas."

Devotional Surrender

O Lord, teach me to recognize and cultivate sattvic knowledge, action, and doership.
