Chapter 17 • Verse 7
आहारस्त्वपि सर्वस्य त्रिविधो भवति प्रियः। यज्ञस्तपस्तथा दानं तेषां भेदमिमं शृणु॥
āhāras tv api sarvasya tri-vidho bhavati priyaḥ yajñas tapas tathā dānaṁ teṣhāṁ bhedam imaṁ śhṛiṇu
Meaning
Even the food that is dear to each is of three kinds. Likewise are sacrifice, austerity, and charity. Hear now the distinction between them.
Food preferences, worship styles, austerities, and charity all come in three types according to the gunas. Krishna will now explain each, giving practical guidance for everyday life choices.
