Chapter 17 • Verse 12
अभिसंधाय तु फलं दम्भार्थमपि चैव यत्। इज्यते भरतश्रेष्ठ तं यज्ञं विद्धि राजसम्॥
abhisandhāya tu phalaṁ dambhārtham api chaiva yat ijyate bharata-śhreṣhṭha taṁ yajñaṁ viddhi rājasam
Meaning
But that sacrifice which is offered with expectation of reward or for the sake of show, O best of the Bharatas — know it to be rajasic.
Rajasic worship is performed for results or for public display. The intention is either to gain something or to impress others. Though externally correct, the motive pollutes the act.

O Lord, purify my worship from all desire for reward or recognition.
