Chapter 13 • Verse 7

इच्छा द्वेषः सुखं दुःखं सङ्घातश्चेतना धृतिः। एतत्क्षेत्रं समासेन सविकारमुदाहृतम्॥

ichchhā dveṣhaḥ sukhaṁ duḥkhaṁ saṅghātaśh chetanā dhṛitiḥ etat kṣhetraṁ samāsena sa-vikāram udāhṛitam

Meaning

...desire, aversion, pleasure, pain, the aggregate body, consciousness, and fortitude — this is the field described briefly with its modifications.

The field also includes psychological aspects: desire, aversion, pleasure, pain, the physical body, consciousness (reflected in the body), and determination. All these experiences occur in the field — we are the witness.

Strength Reflection

"Even my desires, aversions, pleasures, and pains belong to the field — I am the witness."

Devotional Surrender

O Lord, let me witness all experiences without being bound by identification.
